Exploring creativity, making choices and expressing ideas through meaningful art experiences.
Visual Art is an important part of learning at Yarraville Special Developmental School. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, students are encouraged to explore materials, express their ideas and discover different ways to create.
Our weekly Visual Art sessions provide opportunities to experiment with colour, texture, shape and a variety of creative techniques. Activities are adapted to support each student's strengths, interests, communication preferences and individual learning goals.
Art-making also creates meaningful opportunities to make choices, develop fine motor skills, share resources, take turns and connect with others. We celebrate the creative process as well as each student's unique finished work.
Every two years, our school Art Show provides a special opportunity to celebrate students' creativity and achievements. Students can share their artwork, express their ideas and appreciate the creative work of others.
The exhibition recognises each student's individual contribution and brings our school community together through a shared celebration of art.
