Growing independence, building practical skills and exploring meaningful pathways for life beyond school.
In the Senior Years at Yarraville Special Developmental School, learning builds on each student's strengths, interests and individual goals. Students are supported to develop skills they can use at school, at home and in the wider community.
Our programs bring together communication, literacy, numeracy, personal development and practical everyday learning. Students have opportunities to make choices, strengthen relationships, practise routines and take part in purposeful experiences that support increasing independence.
As students prepare for the next stage of their lives, we work with families and allied health professionals to explore individual interests, develop confidence and support meaningful transitions beyond school.
Pathways to Potential is Yarraville SDS's life-skills program, designed to provide purposeful learning and everyday experiences connected to the Victorian Curriculum.
Through practical activities and opportunities to apply their learning, students can build confidence in communication, decision-making, daily living and participation in their community. The program supports students to explore their interests and develop skills that may be useful in their individual post-school pathways.
